Describe an odor
If you cannot work out where a smell is coming from, the more detail the better. Useful things to include:
- What it smells like — smoke, pet or urine, musty, cooking, chemical, other.
- Where it is strongest — a room, the carpet, a sofa, a wardrobe, near an AC vent, a bathroom.
- When it appears — all the time, only with the AC, after the home is closed up, after rain, after cooking.
- Any recent history — a water leak, new pets, renovation, a previous tenant who smoked.
- Photos of any stained or damp material.
